It’s been a good two days of school so far. The kids are great, except for maybe 4 that are coming to my mind, otherwise it’s been pretty nice seeing my kids again. Many of them came to my room that first morning to give me hugs and ask about my Summer.
It’s a little sad realizing that some of my favorite students aren’t coming back this school year, but comforting to know that some of the students who left are the ones that were on my black list.
So what do I do after two days of work and tuning my teacher voice? I’ll tell you! I baked some garlic bread, poured myself a glass of Pinotage and popped in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
It’s now 10:30pm, 2 episodes of Top Chef Season 7 and another glass of wine later I am bumping some R&B- Brandy, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey. Yea, that’s right. I’ve woken Nami (my dog) up twice just to couch dance with her. Don’t know what couch dancing is? Well, it’s an actual dance when you sit cross-legged on the couch and just move the dog’s arms and your body to the music without ever leaving the couch!
This is how I unwind. Not all the time. But today seemed like a good time as any to sing along to Mariah and couch dance with my dog. My roommate is on the opposite couch laughing at me but unsurprised.
Nami has given me a couple of looks that I have the privilege of interpreting for you:
“What the heck are you waking me up for?”
“Seriously? I’m just going to shut my eyes and ignore you now.”
“I am scared that you are my owner.”
“ANOTHER DANCE? GRRRR… leave me alone. “
“No matter what position I take on the couch, I can’t cover up my ears to this music.”
“Are you staying here? Well, I’m going to the bedroom.”
She’s left me… Nami’s on my bed probably. Whatever, I am the master of the couch and I’ll do as I want.
